LYGG celebrated the launch of its new North Sea connections with events at Esbjerg Airport in Denmark and Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands, bringing together customers, partners and regional stakeholders.
The events marked the start of the new Esbjerg–Groningen connection and the continued development of LYGG’s growing North Sea network.
Esbjerg
The launch event at Esbjerg Airport featured a ceremonial ribbon cutting and speeches by Jesper Frost Rasmussen, Mayor of Esbjerg, Allan Dahl Leiberg, Acting Airport Director at Esbjerg Airport, and Roope Kekäläinen, Founder of LYGG. Together, they highlighted the importance of strengthening regional connectivity and creating better business links across the North Sea.
Guests also had the opportunity to visit the aircraft before its departure to Groningen. The aircraft was greeted with a water salute to mark the first departure from Esbjerg.
Groningen
After a swift 45-minute flight, the celebrations continued in Groningen.
Customers, partners and local media gathered to hear presentations from Roope Kekäläinen and Jonas van Dorp, Chief Commercial Officer of Groningen Airport Eelde about the development of the North Sea network and the role of regional air connectivity in supporting businesses across the region.
Following the presentations, guests had the opportunity to visit the aircraft, network and discuss future cooperation.
The launch events reflected the collaborative approach behind LYGG’s network development. Every connection is built together with regional businesses, airports and partners, creating direct air services where verified recurring travel demand exists.

The Esbjerg–Groningen connection operates on demand during August and will expand to three weekly published connections from September. As verified recurring travel demand continues to grow, additional frequencies and destinations will be introduced, allowing the North Sea network to develop step by step together with the companies using it.
