Emden–Esbjerg Connection Celebrated on Both Sides of the North Sea

News

The new Emden–Esbjerg business air connection was officially celebrated on October 27, with events at both airports and a spectacular water salute welcoming the aircraft to Emden.

The celebrations began with a morning reception at Esbjerg Airport, attended by local politicians and regional representatives, before the aircraft departed for Emden.

At Emden Airport, the arriving aircraft was welcomed with a traditional water salute. The event brought together local businesses, customers, prospective customers and regional representatives, who also had the opportunity to explore the aircraft.

LYGG Founder and CEO Roope Kekäläinen and Emden Airport Managing Director Olaf Schmidt addressed the guests. Emden’s Mayor Tim Kruithoff also attended the celebrations.

A connection built around business demand

The new connection responds to travel needs identified by companies operating across the North Sea region. Emden has developed into an important hub for Germany’s wind energy industry, making better connectivity particularly valuable for businesses working across borders.

The connection operates three days a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, either directly or via Groningen, depending on the flight rotation.

Emden is now part of LYGG’s growing North Sea network, where corporate travel demand is combined to develop connections between regional business hubs. As demand grows, further destinations and frequencies can be introduced.

Flights are available exclusively for business travel. Companies can book individual one-off tickets or benefit from additional flexibility and conditions through a corporate agreement.

A warm thank you to Flugplatz Emden, Esbjerg Airport and everyone involved in making the celebrations possible!
