As we wrap up 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved, learned, and built this year at LYGG. It’s been a year of bold steps, some challenges, and plenty of growth.
We kicked off in March by opening the Helsinki–Örebro–Linköping triangle route, connecting regions and businesses with a new perspective. In Sundsvall, we worked hard to sustain connectivity when others couldn’t, and although we had to discontinue sales, the experience was invaluable. It led us to introduce our ‘sourcing phase’—a more systematic way of understanding regional needs and gaining commitment before we start flying.
We expanded our reach from scheduled flights with charters for events like Almedalen, supporting sports teams, and flying critical cargo operations. At the same time, discussions around airport viability intensified in both Finland and Sweden. Airports remain the lifeline of regional economies, and we’re determined to bring real solutions. With our partner Ampaire, we’re set to introduce hybrid-electric aircraft starting in 2026, converting existing aircraft into more sustainable options—and looking even further to technologies like Electra‘s that can operate on a 100-meter runway.
This year, our efforts gained attention beyond flights. Videos, articles, and media coverage have taken LYGG’s message to wider audiences. Helsingin Sanomat, Taloussanomat, and Kauppalehti among others featured us, and our CFO addressed critical conversations about flight shame and the future of aviation. On top of that, we were trusted to consult the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications on what’s next for flying.
Internally, we’ve grown as well, welcoming new team members who are helping us move faster and smarter.
Looking ahead, I see an even bigger role for LYGG in shaping the future of regional aviation—through smart technology, partnerships, and strong regional ties. This year has proven that when we come together, anything is possible.
Here’s to 2025—more learning, more connections, and more growth. Thanks to our team, partners, and customers for believing in what we’re building. Let’s keep flying forward.
